FESTIVAL FROTH

The Festival Froth pillar is all about bringing mental health conversations into the places where young people already feel connected, alive, and themselves: music festivals, summer events, and gigs across Aotearoa.

WE know that realistically some of the best chats happen standing barefoot in a paddock at sunset, sitting outside a tent at 1am, or laughing with mates while walking between stages.

Festival Froth taps into the energy of live music, youth culture, and social connection to help normalise conversations around mental health in a way that feels natural, relatable, and real.

No lectures, forced messaging or boring flyers, Just honest kōrero woven into the places and moments people are already feeling the love.

Throughout the summer festival season, the Spark That Chat crew heads to some of New Zealand’s biggest music festivals and events to film candid conversations with Artists and performers, Festival-goers, Creators and athletes and Everyday legends in the crowd.

We keep it light but honest, asking questions like:

  • What are you grateful for?

  • What’s some advice you’d give a mate who was struggling?

  • What tools do you use to keep your mental health good?

The goal is simple:
To show young people that talking about mental health doesn’t have to be heavy, nerve-wracking, or awkward - it’s human.

BUILDING A CULTURE OF CONNECTION

One of the most powerful parts of Festival Froth is showing young people that connection is something to value, not avoid.

In a world where comparison, loneliness, and pressure can creep in quietly, this pillar encourages people to Open up, Reach out, Be honest with their mates, Share their experiences amd Realise they’re not alone.

Because the more we normalise these conversations publicly, the easier they become privately, And it’s these simple chats in the right moment that can genuinely save a life.
